Wage percentiles reflect BLS calculations for all occupations across all industries. HR&A calculates affordability using the 30% price-to-income standard and assuming 40 hours per week and 4 weeks per month. Dollar values are nominal.

HR&A analysis of hourly wage data from the Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS), US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), and either December rent data from Zillow Research, Zillow Observed Rent Index (Smoothed): All Homes Multifamily Time Series or median gross rents from the American Community Survey (ACS), US Census Bureau, depending on data availability by geography.
